The story of the first
Italian production of
Visiting Mr. Green in
2004 was, like the
production itself,
somewhat operatic.  A
month into a planned
two-year tour of Italy,
Corrado Pani, the
brilliant theatre and film
star (Rocco in Visconti's
Rocco and his
) died suddenly
in January, 2005.

After an enormous
response by critics and the
public at both
Vittorio Gassman
Borgio Verezzi and
della Cometa
in Rome,
the production which also
Maximilian Nisi
as Ross Gardiner,
suddenly ended.
