| The story of the Italian Visiting Mr. Green is, like Mario Mattia Giorgetti's production itself, somewhat operatic. A month into a planned two-year tour of Italy, Corrado Pani, the brilliant theatre and film star (Rocco in Visconti's classic Rocco and his Brothers) died suddenly in January, 2005. After an enormous response by critics and the public at both Teatro Vittorio Gassman in Borgio Verezzi and Teatro della Cometa in Rome, the production which also starred Maximilian Nisi as Ross Gardiner, suddenly ended. Corrado Pani was so well-respected and so celebrated for this performacnce, that out of respect for him, it was decided to let some time pass before beginning a new Italian language production. |
